SaaS backup (Veeam / Datto / AvePoint)
Manage365 doesn't back up SaaS data itself — it monitors whoever does. Connect Veeam Backup for M365, Datto SaaS Protection, or AvePoint Cloud Backup and we'll surface backup coverage + failures alongside the rest of your tenant health.
Why this matters
ACSC Essential Eight strategy 8 (Regular backups) is met by a SaaS backup product — not by retention policies alone. Without visibility into that backup system, a missed job can quietly fail for weeks. Manage365 pulls job status into the main alert pipeline so missed backups raise like any other critical event.
Supported backup providers
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (on-prem or SaaS edition) — REST API + service account. Coverage: job runs, protected-item counts, failure reasons.
- Datto SaaS Protection — Datto's partner API. Coverage: backup frequency, last-successful-run per client / per service.
- AvePoint Cloud Backup for M365 — REST API v2. Coverage: policy coverage, job success rate, point-in-time snapshots available.
What surfaces where
- Per-tenant Backup tab: last successful run per service (Exchange / SharePoint / OneDrive / Teams), retention window, coverage percentage.
- Alerts fire on: a full-day failure, a coverage drop below 95%, a retention window shorter than the configured policy.
- Essential Eight strategy 8 score reads live from this data rather than treating retention-policy-only as compliant.
- Evidence bundle includes the last 90 days of backup job outcomes as CSV for auditors.
Connect
In Settings → Integrations → SaaS backupchoose your provider, paste the API endpoint + credentials. Test connection, map backup clients to customer tenants, save. Initial sync takes 1–3 minutes.
No backup product configured
Tenants with no SaaS backup integration have the backup card greyed out and the Essential Eight strategy 8 score defaults to partial (retention policy alone is documentation, not backup). Fix it by signing the tenant up for a backup product and wiring the integration.
